DOT Physical Examination Steps and Details
STEP 1: Please call us at 203-404-1010 to schedule your appointment or visit us as walk in
We accept walk-ins, but recommend you schedule an appointment prior to your visit to reduce your wait time.
STEP 2: Get your physical examination by our in house DOT certified physician
We will perform an examination, including:- Health history review
- A thorough physical exam
- A urine test
- Any additional test (if required)
STEP 3:
We’ll complete CT driver medical examination report for Commercial Driver Fitness Determination form and its supporting documentation, including DOT physical forms.
In order to be cleared for CDL medical card you must pass all DOT physical requirements. Some of the new requirements and regulations are:
- Diabetes and its management
- High blood pressure (Managed and unmanaged)
- Muscular weakness
- Eye Disease and Vision acuity
- GI and Digestion problems
- Respiratory problems
- Lung, kidney, liver, and nervous system health
- Past or recent illnesses and injuries
- Head and brain injuries
- Hearing disorders
- Heart disorders and surgeries
- Etc.
Important details and points to consider before DOT physical visit:
- Insurance does not cover DOT exam.
- Some employers may pay for DOT exam for their employed drivers.
- Last Medical Examination Report (MER) Card
- List of all prescription medications with dosages
- Prescription Glasses
- Yearly fitness and clearance letter from Cardiologist
- Any other chronic conditions may be required before clearance
- Any new complaint
